Will Give Preview Glimpse of New Film With Fred MacMurray. TWO popular screen stars—Carole Lombard and Fred MacMurray —will present a preview glimpse of their new film, "Swing High, Swing Low,” as a fea ture of Dick Powell's "Hollywood Hotel” program tonight at 9 o’clock on WJSV and other Columbia sta tions. “Swing High, Swing Low,” is a new version of the famous Arthur Hop kins-George Manker Watters stage success, "Burlesque” which starred the late Hal Skelly and which brought initial recognition to the then un known Barbara Stanwyck. It was once filmed under the title “The Dance of Life.” “MOMENTS YOU NEVER FOR GET,” a new series featuring Edwin C. Hill will have its premiere on WJSV at 10. John B. Kennedy will -act as master of ceremonies. TlfOL will broadcast a special pro ” gram at 10:15 in observance of “Civil Service Week.” It will be picked up at the Ambassador Hotel under the direction of Chester M. Wright. William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor will be the chief speaker. Representative Mead, Democrat, of Georgia, who is chairman of the House Civil Service Committee, also will speak. piVE Fred Smiths at a banquet of more than 125 other Fred Smiths, will take part in a special broadcast over WMAL at 10:30. All are mem bers of the Benevolent and Protective and Completely Universal Order of Fred Smiths of America. XJITS from the University of Penn 11 sylvania’s Mask and Wig produc tion of “This Mad Whirl,” will be the high lights of the program of Hal Kemp's Orchestra and the Rhythm Singers on WJSV at 8:30. Selections from “The Mad Whirl” Include “An Apple a Day" and "My Best Best.” "TTELPLES8 HANNAH,” a new play by Arch Oboler, will be Irene Rich’s starring vehicle on WMAL at 8. She will have the role of a great woman athlete who becomes a terrific dud at love. IMMIGRATION RATE HIT Undesirables Mongrelizing U. 8., Says Demarest Lloyd. Declaring the United States Is being “mongrelized” by too high an immi gration of undesirables, Demarest Lloyd, national vice president of the American Coalition of Veteran, Pa triotic and Civic Organizations, ad dressed the Maj. L’Enfant Chapter of the D. A. R. last night in its seventh annual national defense program at the Washington Club. Adequate Immigration laws are an integral part of national defense, ac cording to Lloyd, but we are at pres ent blocked in retaining our national integrity by Inertia, politics, over kindliness and lax enforcement and modification of existing laws, he said.
