YAGER Paper Company Executive Dies From Illuminating Gas at His Home. Funeral service* for Frank M. Yager, 52, vice president and Wash ington representative of the Cau thorne Paper Co. of Richmond, Va., who died yester day from illumi nating gas In his home in the Woodley Park Towers, 2737 Devonshire place, will be held in Roanoke, Va. The body was to be taken to Roa noke early today. Mr. Y a g e r's wife, Mrs. Norma Jones Yager, found him lying F. M. Yager. on tne icitcnen floor near a me jets or which were open. She raised the windows and sum moned aid. The fire rescue squad and an Emergency Hospital physician responded, but were unable to revive him. A certificate of suicide was issued later by Coroner A. Magruder Mac Donald. Mrs. Yager said her husband had been ill for three weeks, suffer ing from pleurisy and influenza. A native of Orange County, Va., Mr; Yager came to Washington in 1917 and opened a branch office of the paper company at Eleventh and G streets. Recently he had main tained his business headquarters at his residence. Mr. Yager was a member of the Washington Lodge of Elks and the Congressional Country Club. PNEUMONIA FATAL TO HERMAN MEYER Retired Official of Library Earlier Had Won Fame as an Engineer. Herman Henry Bernard Meyer. 72, retired head of the Legislative Ref erence Service of the Library of Con gress, died late yesterday of pneu monia at his home, 3701 Massachu setts avenue. Mr. Meyer was widely known as a bibliographer and librarian over a long period. Early in life he also had distinguished himself as an en gineer. He had been prominent in many organizations, having been an offi cer in a number of them, and had compiled many bibliographies on so cial, economic and political questions during the period from 1909 to 1921. Mr. Meyer also had collected a pri vate library of more than 10,000 vol umes on fine printing in America and first editions of English and American authors. He was retired from the Library in November, 1935, after having had charge of the Legislative Reference Service there since 1921. Granted Engineering Degree. Born in New York City on October 17, 1864, Mr. Meyer was graduated with an engineer of mines degree from Columbia University in 1885. He went to the Pratt Institute Library School. 1901-2. and received the degree of doctor of literature from Howard University in 1922. After receiving his engineering de gree, he was engaged in gas light en gineering for the Oregon Iron Works in New York until 1897. He was con struction engineer for the Brooklyn Union Gas Co. from 1897 to 1901. In the latter year he decided to take up library work. Mr. Meyer went to work at the Li brary of Congress in 1905, serving as chief of the periodical division until 1906. Prom then until 1908 he was chief of the order division. From the latter year until 1923 he was chief bibliographer, meanwhile having been made director of the legislative ref erence service. Held Association Office. He was a life member of the Amer ican Library Association, which he served as first vice president, 1920-21. In 1924-25 he was president of the American Library Institute, was vice Milbum T.
