By the Associates Press. Another increase in internal revenue collections during January, the Treas ury said today, lifted receipts for the first seven months of this fiscal year $290,845,653 above the same period last year. January collections of $207,483,011 were $23,717,973 over the same 1936 month. These receipts brought Gov ernment income for the seven-month period to $2,071,883,792. The gain was achieved despite in validation of taxes under the agricul tural adjustment act, which accounted for $71,271,790 of revenue in the 1935-6 period. Income tax receipts paced tbe rev enue climb, rising $147,899,320 during the seven-month period to $740,287, 713. Of the total. $416,873,795 was from corporation income levies, a gain of $76,128,929, and $323,413,918 from taxes on individuals, an increase of $71,770,330. LONDON February 24 OF.—Oil stocks showed strength today following the Mexi can Eagle Oil Co.'s statement that the creation of a new Mexican government oil company would not affect British interests. Giit-edged securities sold higher and in dustrials were firm, especially steels, tobac cos and electrical issues. Mining shares were active and strong as buyers again sought the base metal issues.
