In 1936 the number of telephones
increased 881.000, compared with an
increase of 456.000 in 1935. There
were 14.453.C00 Bell telephones in serv
ice at the end of 1936.
At the close of the year the system
had regained about two-thirds of the
telephones loet during the depression.

General Printing Ink Corp reported
for 1936 net income after undistributed
profits tax of $1,177,803, equal after
preferred dividends to $5.28 a share
on 183,990 common shares. This com
pares with $924,059. or $3 88, in 1935.
Vick Chemical.
Vick Chemical reported for the
quarter ended December 31 consoli
dated net profit of $1,126,623, equal to
$1 61 a share, compared with $599,933.
or 85 cents a share, in the like 1935
quarter. No provision was made for
the Federal undistributed profits tax.
