TO MEET TONIGHT Lewis and Johnson Will Address Madison Square Garden Rally. the Associated Press. NEW YORK, March 15.—Pointed by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia’s re cent criticism of Chancellor Hitler, which precipitated international ex changes, the controversy over the Nazi philosophy of government reached a new crescendo today. A meeting intended to crystallize anti-Nazi sentiment, was called for Madison Square Garden tonight under Jewish auspices even as 11 three-foot orange swastikas were being erased from the portal of a Manhattan syn agogue. Tomorrow night the German-Amer ican League for Culture plans a dem onstration against naziism in front of the New York quarters of the Amerika Deutscher Volksbund, known as the ‘ American Nazis.” Head of Volksbund Expected. Fritz Kuhn, heading the Volksbund, who denied charges by Representative Dickstein of New York that the Ger mans’ organization was un-American, was expected in New York today or tomorrow from his Detroit headquar ters. Eugene F. Grigot, an officer of the league for Culture, said this question would be asked Kuhn and his follow ers: "How can any American of Ger man origin live up to his oath of al legiance to Uncle Sam and raise his arm in Hitler fashion at the same time without being a perjurer of the worst sort?’’ \ general police order to watch all synagogues was issued upon discovery of the swastikas, emblem of the Hit ler regime, stenciled on the front of » West Eighty-third street Jewish place of worship. By the Associated Press. SEATTLE, March 15.—Lieut. Thomas H. Massie, naval officer in volved in the notorious assault and manslaughter case that rocked Hawaii five years ago, was home in a Seattle apartment today with his 29-year-old bride, the former K. Storms of Seattle. Their marriage was disclosed a week after it took place. Massie’s first wife, Mrs. Thalia Massie, was attacked in Hawaii on September 9, 1931, wjien she walked from a party. One of the five natives she accused was killed, and Lieut. Massie, Mrs. Granville Fortescue, Mrs. Massie’s mother, and two enlisted men were convicted of manslaughter. They returned to the United States after serving one-hour sentences. The h at Mrs. Massie obtained a divorce in Reno in February, 1934. The second Mrs. Massie, former student at Washington State College, was a commercial secretary. Her parents are Postmaster and Mrs. H. S. Storms of Chewelah, Wash. The romance began shortly after Lieut. Massie was transferred to the Puget Sound Navy Yard at Bremerton two years ago. The couple will sail April 10 for China, where Lieut. Massie will re port for duty. WINCHESTER, Ky„ March 14 UP). —Mrs. Aileen Massie said tonight that her son, Lieut. Thomas H. Massie, U. S. N., had written her of his mar riage to Miss Florence Storms of Seattle and that she thought the couple might come here lor their honeymoon. Wibel, director of purchases for the Ford Motor Co., Detroit, reported he was robbed of $300 cash and valuable papers by an armed bandit laie Sat urday night. Wibel said the hold-up occurred as he and his wile were returning to their hotel alter making a few pur chases at a nearby drug stare. The bandit approached them from the rear and at the point of a pistol lorced them to turn down a side street. There he ordered Wibel to hand over his wallet.
