MANCHUKUO PRINCE WEDS TOKIO GIRL Heir Presumptive to Throne Takes Japanese Commoner as Bride. By the Associated Press. TOKIO, April 3 —Prince Pu Chieh, heir-presumptive to the orchid throne of Manchukuo, was married today to a Japanese commoner, 23-year-old Hiroko Saga, in the first of two cere monies to solemnise the dynastlcally important marriage. The brother of Emperor Kang-Teh of Manchukuo and his Japaneae,bride, united in a simple Shinto ceremony, will complete their marriage six months hence in Chinese rites at Hsinking. capital of Manchukuo. Through fiag-bedecked streets, filled with cherry blossoms and merry makers, the wedding procession wound to Tokio's military hall, where the simple ceremony was performed that may some day place a Japanese con sort on the Manchukuoan throne. An act of Imperial succession, pro mulgated March 1, to govern the throne of Japanese-dominated Man chukuo, made Pu Chieh heir pre sumptive to the childless Emperor. The act, like Japan's succession laws, barred women from the throne. Emperor Kang-Teh's minister of the imperial household, Hsl Chia, and the bride's close family, were the only witnesses to the ceremony, performed before an underked Shinto altar. A number of Washington scientists will present reports in various fields of chemical research during the ninety third meeting of the American Chemi* cal Society at the University of North Carolina April 12-15, It fM an nounced yesterday. Dr. M. X. Sullivan of Georgetown University will present a paper at a meeting of the division of biological chemistry on biochemical studies in pellagra. Dr. W. H. Sebrell of the National Institute of Health here will report to the same group on the pellagra preventive factor. Dr. Sullivan will also collaborate with others in a report on hydrolysis of fingernail clippings. The Washington Animal Rescue League has joined the American Hu mane Association in’a drive to squelch "an apparent movement in this coun try to popularize bullfighting,’’ with a view of legalizing it here and in Cuba, Mrs. C. Augustus Simpson, president, announced yesterday. In a letter received by the league last week, Sidney H.
