A move to help Miss Mary Helen Daingerfield gain possession of several hundred thousand dollars in securities on deposit here was made today by attorneys for the 66-year-old heiress, after her flight from her home in Alexandria Friday while a sanity commission sought an agreement on her mental status. Leo A. Rover, former United States attorney, and Attorney Paul Delaney requested the American Security & Trust Co. to allow Miss Daingerfield access to her safety deposit box, in which she is said to have a “large amount’’ of negotiable securities. The attorneys were to hold another conference with legal representatives otf the bank later today in an effort to effect an amicable agreement. Would Ask Court Writ. If the request is refused, attorneys for Miss Daingerfield planned to ask the District Court to issue a writ again the trust company to show cause why the heiress should not have access to the box. Miss Daingerfield, member of an old Vriginia family and heiress to an estate estimated at $800,000, outwitted a guard pasted at her home, Malvern, by order of the Alexandria Corpora tion Court, and fled to friends in Washington. Miss Daingerfield inherited the es tate from her father, Edward C. Dain gerfield. founder of the Citiaens’ Na tional Bank of Alexandria. Arthur H. Bryant, a former director of the bank, petitioned the court to examine Miss Daingerfield. Third Doctor Appointed. The two physicians appointed by the court to make the examination disagreed, and Judge William P. Woolls appointed a third doctor to break the tie. Judge Woolls is now on vacation and the case is set for decision next Monday. Attorneys for Bryant said they hoped to locate Miss Daingerfield in Washington and persuade her to re turn to Alexandria. The attorneys said Miss Daingerfield could be ex tradited to Virginia if her sanity is questioned and she is found incom petent in another jurisdiction. --• Brain Twizzlers BY PROF. J. D. FLINT. The sergeant scratched his head and answered, embar rassedly, that he wasn't sure but he knew he started school when he was 4'/i years old and was In school one sixth of his life. Then he got a job and worked for one-flfth of his life. When he quit that Job he become a policeman and spent one-fourth of his life at that. He had been In the Army one»third of his life.
