THOMAS POULTER WILL RECEIVE MEDAL Scientist of Byrd Expedition Will B« Honored by Geographic Society. Dr. Thomas C. Poulter, senior sci entist of the Byrd Antarctic expedi tion of 1933-1935, will receive a special gold medal of the National Geographic Society at a ceremony next Tuesday in Explorers’ Hall of the society’s administration buliding. The presentation will be made by Dr. Gilbert Groevenor, president, be fore trustees and officers of the society, ranking Army, Navy and Marine Corps officers, scientists and Govern ment officials. Admiral Byrd will come here for the ceremony. The medal bears an inscription which says the award ‘‘is in recogni tion of his Important explorations ■ and achievements and his technical researches as second in command” of the expedition.
