SALT LAKE CITY (/P).—Eldred Beckstead, Riverton, Utah, had a bat tle with a bee. The casualties were cuts and bruises on Eldred, a broken steel light pole, a small tree knocked down and three smashed mail boxes. Chapel Cremations NAtional 5512 OTTO G. GARGES, 65, DIES HERE AFTER ILLNESS Retired Livery Stable Owner Had Been District Resident Since Childhood. Otto G. Garges, 85, retired livery stable proprietor, died yesterday after a long illness at his home. 3414 Que sada street. Born in Annandale, Va.. where his grandfather settled in 1803, Mr. Garges had been a Washington resident since childhood. He entered the livery business with his father, the late John Garges, afterward becoming proprietor of the business, which was in the 600 block of Pennsylvania avenue southeast. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frederick A. Garges, this city; a sister, Mrs. Martha G. Allen, Philadelphia, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am. tomorrow in the Catholic Church of the Blessed Sacrament, with Rev. Thomas Crowley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Ceme tery. MICHAEL C. KELLEY, HORSE TRAINER, DIES Veteran Victim of Complications Resulting From Kick at Benning. Michael C. Kelley, veteran race horse trainer, died yesterday at Emergency Hospital from complication.! growing out of an Injury he rereived at Ben ning March 6, when he was kicked by a horse. Requiem mass will be said at St. Joseph’s Church at 9 a m. ’’Mike’’ Kelley, as he was known wherever horses ran, had been a fa miliar figure on tracks from coast to coast for more than half a century. Born in New York, he left home early, got a job as a stable boy, and from then on followed the gypsy-trail of the racing game. Eventually he turned to training, and was associ ated with many of the old-time stables whose colors long since have disappeared from the turf scene. Invariably when the horses came to I the Maryland tracks, Kelley returned to Washington, which for 30 years he had called home. He resided at 201 F street northeast. THOMAS H. ROBEY DIES Rites Today for Former Long Time Potomac District Resident. ROCKVILLE, Md., May 31 (Spe cial).—The funeral of Thomas F. Robey, 78, former long-time resident of Potomac district, this cougty, took place this morning from the funeral home of W. Reuben Pumphrey, Be thesda, burial being in the cemetery adjoining the Methodist Church at Potomac. Mr. Robey had been ill about two weeks. BELLE M’INTOSH DIES AT AGE OF 72 Native of Prince Edward Island Came to Washington Eight Years Ago. Mrs. Belle McIntosh, 72, of 3830 Veazey street, widow of H. B. Mc Intosh, died yesterday in Emergency Hospital after a short illness. Born o.i Prince Edward Island, Mrs. McIntosh received her earlier educa tion in Canada and later studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music. She was married in 1889 to Mr. Mc Intosh, for many years a builder in Colorado Springs. Colo. The couple came to Washington eight years ago, after he had retired. Mrs. McIntosh Ls survived by the following daughters and sons: Mrs. W. W. Arbuekle, Miss Evelyn K. Mc Intosh Miss Serena M. McIntosh, C. D. McIntosh and Gordon K. McIntosh, all of this city; H. A. McIntosh, Pueblo, Colo., and W W. McIntosh, Lawton, Okla. She also leaves five I grandchildren. Her husband died last January. MAN WATCHING TRAIN ~ SERIOUSLY INJURED Allen Johnson, 22, Receives Frac tured Skull Under Monroe Street Viaduct. Allen Johnson, 22, colored, was injured seriously this morning when he was struck by a Baltimore & Ohio southbound passenger train as he stood beside the tracks under the Monroe street viaduct between Eighth and Ninth streets northeast. Metropolitan police officers N. B. Creel and O. J. See. who took the in jured man to Freedmen's Hospital in j their scout car, said he apparently had j been watching the approach of a ' northbound train when he was struck. He suffered a fractured skull.
