CAPITAL PUBLISHER i Visit of Meyer and French Foreign Minister Held With out Political Import. Sr the Associated Press. PARIS, June 8.—Eugene Meyer, former governor of the Federal Re aerve Board and publisher of the Washington. D. C., Post, was received today by Yvon Delbos, French foreign minister. Officials said there was no political aigniflcance to the visit. Meyer was accompanied by Feltx Morley, editor of the Post. Asked about his impressions of Premier Paul Van Zeeland of Belgium, who shortly is to confer with Presi dent Roc*evelt and whom Meyer met yesterday, the publisher said their in terview was interesting and enlight ening on European political and eco nomic conditions. > Meyer said he felt that with Belgium Ih its present position of freedom from entangling alliances, its premier occu pied a unique position for leadership In improving world conditions—eco nomically and for the promotion of peace. His position as prime minister of Belgium is only part of Van Zeeland's torength, Meyer said. More important ll the fact that Van Zeeland appears to be emerging in a remarkable way 9B one in whom other nations appear to have special confidence. Van Zeeland's Princeton experience, Ideyer said, and his other visits make kirn thoroughly familiar with the Vnited States. His personality and tyitelligence unquestionably will make 9 strong and favorable impression, he %dded. CHINESE RESIDENTS • GREET DR. WANG r --- Kew Ambassador Tells of Progress , Made in Country in Last Decade. Dr Chenting T. Wang, new Am bassador to the United States from China, told more than 300 Chinese residents of Washington Sunday Chat their home country has made femarkable progress in education, Ihdustry and national unity during the last decade. Dr. Wang spoke at a reception arranged by the various Chinese com munity organizations here to welcome him and his two daughters, the Misses Voeh E. Wang and An Fu Wang. He was introduced by Lee Jong Won after several other leaders of the local Chinese community made wel coming speeches. China has made greater progress during the last 10 years than she Ijad for 1,000 years, Dr. Wang said, torgely as a result of the revolution drhich established the Chinese Republic itnd promotion of national unity by Che Nationalist, party. With Dr. Sun tat Sen. he helped found the party And start the revolution. ‘ The reception was held at the Lotus Restaurant, where an American •tyle dinner was served in the after noon.
