Apparel for Those Week-end Motor Trips
ABOUT this time of year the urge
to get going comes over your
household and your spouse
will say to you, ‘'Let's take
a week-end trip In the car."
You'll have no other course but to
have the motor overhauled, whip up
a sensible motoring wardrobe, and
resign yourself to a life of hotdog
stands, comfort stations, chicken din
ners, State police, and billboard
greetings from various chambers of
commerce.
We know of no better all-purpose
suit for Summer wear than the dou
ble-breasted solid gray flannel. No
matter where you go or what you
do, It Is a smart, practical Invest-1
ment. With it, we are showing a
tweed cap in shepherds check. Be
aure that you get one with a one
piece flat top that will make you look
like a gentleman. If you are rele
gated to the rumble seat, you'll find
the cap is indispensable.
Chooae shirts in a zephyr or air-con
ditioned fabric—a good stunt is the
Eo-button type with convertible neck
line that can be worn with collar
open or with a tie. Tan or blue is
more practical than white on the
road.
Tf you expect to stop off at a smart
hotel en route, better take a white
dinner jacket o' some lightweight
Summer fabric, worn with regulation
blade dress trousers In worsted, or
of the same lightweight Summer fab
ric of your dinner Jacket. If you
have a single-breasted, shawl collar
Jacket, wear it with a soft collared,

For long stretches at the wheel, we
suggest ventilated pigskin driving
gloves, gauntlet style. Pigskin wears
like iron, and doesn't slip.
If you must smoke when driving,
better Invest in a pipe with practi
cal top that slips over the bowl,
keeping the ashes from flying all
over mama.
When you are driving, it's a good
idea to wear an odd pair of slacks
with the jacket of your flannel suit.
Gabardine is a good bet, as it holds
its shape, despite hours in the driver's
seat, and doesn't muss readily.
You may want to wear a sleeveless
pullover sweater instead of your coat.
Wine color is not only smart but
practical.
Get shoes in brown reverse calf with
crepe soles. You don’t have to
bother having them polished, just
brush up with a wire brush, or a
better trick yet, with an old hairbrush
—these are kinder to the leather.

Marshall Finnan, National Capital
Parks superintendent, announced to
day in revealing plans for the Chopa
wamsic Recreational Area, near Quan
tlco, Va.
Camp Goodwill, formerly operated
in Rock Creek Park, and Camp Pleas
ant, formerly at Blue Plains, D. C.,
both operated by the Family Service
Association, will be located at Chopa
wamsic this year.
Boys and girls from the Jewish
Community Center again will go to
Chopawamsic. Finnan asserted. The
Boys' Club, which went to the nearby
Virginia resort in former years, this
year will return to its old camp site
at Camp Reeder, on the Wicomico
| River, In Maryland.
