POINT IN m CASE
LOST BY COLLADAY
Internal Revenue Bureau
• Disclaims Error in Refusal
to Allow His Claims. f
By the Associated Press.
Morrison Shafroth, chief counsel for
the Bureau of Internal Revenue, de
nied yesterday contentions by Ed
ward-F. Colladay, Republican national
committeeman for the District of
Columbia, that the commissioner of
internal revenue erred in disallowing
deductions in his 1934 and 1935 in
come tax returns for automobile ex
penses, depreciation of automobile and
office equipment and losses on worth
less patents.
Colladay, an attorney, has asked
the Board of Tax Appeals to rede
termine a $2,072 deficiency in 1934
and 1935 income taxes assessed by
the Bureau of Internal Revenue. He
told the board the bureau erroneously
disallowed the deductions. These in- !
eluded $2,303 for auto expenses, $2,154 j ®
for depreciation and $7,720 as the (|
"remaining cost" of patents deter- i §
mined worthless.
