.Losses of Fractions to More Than Five Points Are Well Distributed. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, September 24.—Al though liquidation lightened in the afternoon, losses of fractions to more than 5 points were general among shares on the curb exchange today. Rallying power was limited despite the ’ easing of selling pressure. Following the trend on the ‘‘big board,” industrial shares again bore the heaviest weight of the offerings. Aluminum of America was off more than 5 points at one time and losses of 1 to more than 2 points were re corded in American Cyanamid "B,” Creole Petroleum, Gulf Oil, Pitts burgh' Plate Glass and McWilliams Dredging. Sherwin-Williams broke as ‘much as 6 points at one phase. Utilities joined the general retreat, although losses were not so great as in other groups. Off fractions were American Gas & Electric, Cities Serv ice, Electric Bond & Share and United Bookings Expected To Revive Shortly At Steel Plants By the Associated Press. CLEVELAND, Ohio, September 24.— Daily Metal Trade today says: New business in finished steel prod ucts is expanding slowly. Backlogs continue to shrink, but producers are confident that volume buying will de velop shortly to support operations around the curjent high level. Automotive tonnage demand is thought sure to come out shortly and already is expanding encouragingly. With deliveries prompt in most lines now, miscellaneous consumers are less inclined to order ahead, and this is believed one reason for the lag in new buying lately. However, as the Fall > season progresses it is believed de liveries will tighten up. with a result ing increase in buying by general con sumers.
