■ „ , 10 BE SPEAKER The Most Rev. Henry Tucker to Address Meeting on Religious Education. The newly-elected presiding bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church, ♦he Most Rev. Henry St. George Tucker, D. D„ LL. D„ will be the speaker at a mass meeting in the in terest of religious education, to be held In St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Third and A streets S.E., in connection with the annual convention of the Church School Institute of the Diocese of Washington, next Wednesday. The convention will open at 5:15 pm. The speaker at the afternoon session will be the Very Rev. Noble C. Powell, dean of Washington Cathe dral, and warden of the College of Preachers. Supper will be served for the accredited delegates in the parish hall at 6:45 p.m. The presiding bishop will speak at 8 o'clock. Other noted clergymen will be in attendance in eluding Bishop James E. Freeman. The Rev. William R. Moody, chair man of the Diocesan Department of Religious Education, and host to the convention, will preside at both ses sions. The wardens and vestrymen of St. Mark's Parish, who will receive the distinguished guests are Mai. Joseph H. Wheat, D. W. Gall, Henry P. Blair, Hull T. Estabrook, Charles Hutchinson. David E. McCoy. Taylor Papson. Woodelt Frazier, Morris Marlow and John N. Robertson. Women assisting are Mrs. Steward Carter. Mrs. Mary E. Holmes, Miss Grace E. Robinson and others. The sessions will be open to the pub lic. JOASH CHEST DAY AT PETWORTH M. E. Dr. G. Ellis Williams to Preach Sermon—Building Fund Gifts to Be Offered. .Toash Chest Day will be observed tomorrow at Petworth M. E. Church morning and evening. At 11 a m. Dr. G. Ellis Williams, superintendent of the Washington district, and former pastor of Petworth Church, will be the guest preacher. The congregation, led bv the small children of the nursery department, and the members of dif ferent departments of the Sunday •chool. will join in a procession past the. Joash Chest, and deposit their contributions for the building fund. This will be the climax to the cam paign for the building fund which has been carried on for the past two weeks, tn which nearly $10,000 has been pledged. The goal is $3,000 for the day. At, 8 p.m. a religious drama. “The Unlighted Cross,'’ will be presented. The annual turkey dinner, spon sored by the Woman's Guild, will be held Wednesday and Thursday* The proceeds will be added to the build- ! ing fund. The Provincial Executive Com mittee met last week and voted on it. The Second Diocesan Conference will be held November 20 and 21 at St. Paul s Rock Creek Parish. Harry lee Doll, rector of Christ Church, Alexandria, and formerly chaplain of the Y, P. F.. in this diocese, will speak on “Young Peo ple as Leaders of Young People.” and Dr. Oliver J.
