LOCAL SUFFRAGE BACKED Of GROUP Friendship Citizens’ Associ ation Also Approves Plan for Representation. A plea for local suffrage and na tional representation for the District was made last night in a resolution passed by the Friendship Citizens’ Association. The resolution asked that District residents be given the power to elect a representative to Congress the same as the States, and that they also be given authority to select local mu nicipal office holders. This action was taken following a debate at the last association meeting at which both sides of the subject were presented. Speaking on the matter at last night’s meeting, Samuel J. Flickinger, asso ciation president, said that “it is time we were given a stake and voice in local affairs, and it is only right that we be given enough representation at the Capitol to not only make our needs known but to give our requests weight.” Another resolution passed by the as sociation condemned the service given by the refuse department, and asked for better and more frequent collec tions of trash, garbage and ashes. This resolution also asked that alleys be kept cleaner. A committee was appointed to make plans for the annual Christmas cele bration of the association. Mr. Flick inger announced that the organiza tion would follow the custom estab lished last year by award prizes for ' * ' 8S38&WS the best decorated homes and business establishments in the neighborhood. Plans also were made to take part in the celebration of the tenth anni versary of the Tenley branch library, which will take place tonight in the library building at Wisconsin avenue and Albemarle street N.W.
