SCHOOL OFFICERS TOATTENDPARLEY ' f 60 in Group Planning to Go to Atlantic City Meet- * ing Friday. More than 30 public school officers and about as many teachers are plan ning to leave Washington beginning Friday to attend the sixty-eighth an nual convention of the American Asso ciation of School Administrators, open ing in Atlantic City Saturday and running through March 3. The Washington delegation wHl be headed by Dr. Frank W. Ballou and Assistant Supts. Robert L. Haycock, Harvey A. Smith. Chester W. Holmes and Gannet C. Wilkinson. At the same time a group of clerks in the school system are also planning to attend the fourth annual Eastern States Convention of the National As sociation of School Secretaries, open ing in Atlantic city on the same day, according to Miss M. Alvina Carroil, a member of the Executive Committee. Topics on Agenda. Among the topics to be discussed by the school administrators are the problems of the Nation's youth, the relations of the United States with neighbor nations in the Western Hemisphere, the responsibility of the Federal Government for the education of its citizens, the long-term policies and objectives of American education, better qualified teachers and the rela tionships of the schools and the public. Washingtonians featured in the youth discussion will be Dr. John W. Studebaker, United States Commis sioner of Education; Mrs. Wilson Compton and Homer P. Rainey, di rector of the American Youth Com mission of the American Council of Education. Envoy on Program. On the "good neighbor” phase of the program the group will hear Am bassador Francisco Castillo Najera of Mexico and Assistant Secretary of State Francis B Sayre. A principal speaker in connection with the teacher training phase will be Dr. George F. Zook, president of • the Council on Education. The more serious convention sessions will be interspersed with a round of festivities which will include a "friend ship dinner” and an ice carnival. The scene of the activities will be the At lantic City Auditorium. The delegation of clerks will have . their meetings in Haddon Hall. Fea ture of the convention will be a din ner Sunday night, with Gov. George H. Earle of Pennsylvania and Senator Josh Lee of Oklahoma as guest speakers. PARK SERVICE QUERIES WILL BE ANSWERED Dr. Harold C. Bryant to Talk Wednesday at New Interior Department Auditorium. Dr. Bryant, former biology profes sor at the University of California and for 16 years in charge of the educational and research program of the California Fish and Game Com mission, was connected with educa tional work in the natiqnal parks before being made an assistant direc tor of the park service in 1930.
