TRAVEL BY AMERICANS ABROAD SHOWS DECLINE 3un* Passports Are Up Over May but Well Below Tear Ago—Six Months Off 23 Per Cent. By tbe Associated Press. American travel abroad increased during June, but still was considerably below last year. The Stare Department announced yesterday a decline of 23 per cent in | the number of persons going to for eign lands during the first six months of the year. Passports were issued to 91,551 Americans the first half of this year, compared with 119,390 last year. In June, 25,752 passports were de livered, compared with 24,979 In May and 31,491 in June, 1937. School League Plans Dinner. The Annandale (Va.), School and Community League is giving a chow mein dinner for the benefit of the An nandale School Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the school. U. S. TO GET REFUND ON BLUE-GRAY REUNION About $350,000 May Be Returned From $1,186,000 Voted tor Veterans’ Expenses. The Federal Government will get back a large slice of the money it put up for the reunion of the blue and gray at Gettysburg. Only 1,812 of the 10,000 Union and Confederate veterans still living at tended the reunion. As a result be tween $300,000 and $350,000 of the $1,186,000 voted by Congress will be returned to the Treasury. The Government paid all traveling and living expenses of the veterans and of attendants for each. Two Official Languages, The official languages of the League of Nations are French and English.
