Metropolitan Baptist Plans Thanksgiving Sunrise Services Dr. Ball Lists Sermon Themes for Riles Tomorrow At the Metropolitan Baptist Church tomorrow morning Dr. John Compton Ball will speak on “Thanks Be Unto God for-In the eve ning the assistant pastor, the Rev. Robert Carlton Savage, will conduct the harvest home service and speak on “We Need a Bumper Crop.” The Live Wire Bible Class will decorate the platform with farm products. At both services the church will receive food donations for the Home for Baptist Ladies. The evening service will conclude with the ordi nance of baptism. On Thanksgiving Day the 32nd annual sunrise service will be held beginning at 7 o'clock. Both Ameri can and Christian flags will receive salutes from the assembled congre gation, and Dr. Ball will lead in the thanksgiving testimonies. The B. A. U. meets at 6:45 p.m.. with Mrs. Lloyd Parker leading. At 3 p.m. the Live Wire Bible Class will conduct religious services at the Home for Baptist Ladies, 3248 N street N.W. On Tuesday at 7 o'clock the Thru the-Bible Class meets with Mrs. Wil liam Hasker teaching. Prayer serv ice Thursday at 7:45 p.m., led by the pastor. Mrs. Hugh Weston, 14 Mil marson street N.W.. will be the host at the meeting of the Farther Lights Mission Circle on Friday at 7:45 p.m. First Spiritualist. "Activities in the Spirit World" Is the third of a series of lectures on “Journeys in the Spirit World' by the Rev. Alfred H. Terry at 131 C street N.E. tomrorow at 8 p.m. Healing Services. The Prayer Circle of the St. Ste phen's Healing Mission will meet Tuesday in the parish hall of the Church of St. Stephen and the Incarnation at 10:30. The group will continue the study of “How to Heal One's Self and Others." by Dr. E. L. House, and will pray for the sick. White Cross. The White Cross Church of Christ will hold services on Sunday at 4 pm. at 1810 Ontario place N.W. The Rev. Jane B. Coates will deliver a sermon on "How to Overcome All Difficulties.” On Wednesday at 8 p.m. the healing and message serv ice will be held. Subject of dis course will be "Haunted Houses I Have Visited." Grace Reformed. “Is the Church Declining?" is the theme of Dr. Ranck tomorrow. In the evening the annual thank-of fering service of the Woman's Mis sionary Society and the Girls' Guild Is held, the guild presenting a short play. Thanksgiving service Thursday at 10 a.m. Dr. Ranck's theme is “Thanksgiving for What?" Lectures on Secret Asia. "Tibet, the Land of Mystery,” the second lecture on “Secret Asia.” by Mrs. Hazel B. Burns, leader in the "axiomatic work." which is open to the public, will be given at Wash ington Theosophic Society Lodge. 1216 H street N.W., tomorrow at 8 p.m. The lecture on “The Key of Sin cerity,” by Smith Tassin. previously announced for this date, has been postponed until December 11. Christian Witness League. Vesper service and Bible Study Class will be held tomorrow at 4 o'clock at 1322 Vermont avenue N.W. In the absence of the Rev. Arthur G. Slaght, who is in Augusta, Ga.. Miss Betty La Roche will be the speaker. Mrs. Beulah Kauffman will be in charge of the prayer meeting Monday at 8 o'clock at 1829 Sixteenth street N.W. Goodwill Industries. The Rev. C. N. Williams of the Third Christian Church will be the guest speaker Wednesday at the Goodwill Chapel services from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. at 1218 New Hamp shire avenue. The Rev. John C. Palmer of the Washington Heights Presbyterian Church and grand chaplain of the Masonic Order in the District, will speak Friday. These services are held daily from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. Christian Science. “Soul and Body” is the subject of the lesson-sermon in all the Churches of Christ, Scientist, tomor row. The golden text is from Isaiah xxvi:8 “Yea, in the way of Thy judgments. O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remem brance of Thee.” Among the cita tions which comprise the lesson sermon is the following from the Bible; “No man can serve two mas ters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will hold to the one. and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew vi:24). Missionary Alliance. The annual missionary convention will close Sunday with three serv ices at the Gospel Tabernacle, 5714 Georgia avenue N.W. The address will be delivered by the Rev. George Morgan, assistant superintendent of the Eastern district of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, at 10:45 a.m. At 3 p.m. the Rev. A. Heifers will speak on India and Mrs. K. Rommen will represent Tibet. At 7:30 p.m. a missionary' message will be given and to be followed by a ser mon by the Rev. George Morgan. The Church of Two Worlds. “In Time to Come” will be the subject of the Rev. H. Gordon Bur roughs tomorrow evening at the Hotel Continental. A lecture, fol lowed by messages, will be given by the minister Wednesday evening. The latter part of next week, the Rev. Mr. Burroughs will be in Con necticut and Massachusetts in con nection with his work as missionary at large for the National Spiritualist Association. First Brethren. The Rev. Homer A. Kent will preach at 11 o'clock tomorrow on “Except a Corn of Wheat Fall Into the Ground and Die.” and at 8 p.m. on "They Saw No Man Save Jesus Only.” A Thanksgiving serv ice will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. This will take the place of the usual Wednesday evening serv ice. The churches of the trans-East ern area, east of the Anacostia River, will meet at the Congress Heights Baptist Church Thursday at 10:30 am. The Rev. John E. The People's Baptist Convention of Washington and Vicinity, Dr. E. C. Smith, president, will meet Thurs day at 1 p.m. in the Mount Nebo Baptist Church to elect the members of the boards and to consider ways and means to aid financially and otherwise some of the churches of the convention. Christian Columbia Heights. The Thanksgiving sermon will be preached by the Rev. A. P. Wilson. His topic for the morning will be "The Ups and Downs of Life” and in the evening "Where Are the Nine?” The church will have as its guest on November 27 the Rev. Manley Morton, missionary from Puerto Rico, as guest minister. There will be no prayer meeting on Thursday, because of the union service at the Mount Pleasant Con gregational Church at 11 a.m. Fifteenth Street. 7 Morning worship and the Lord's supper at 11 o'clock. Sermon by the Rev. Leslie L. Bowers on "Fag Ends.” At 8 p.m. a service of “Hymnology” will be given. The sermon, "Songs of Salvation,” will be participated in by the congregation.
