By VICTOR EUBANK, Associated Press Financial Writer. NEW YORK. Aug. 15.—Appar ently inspired by a further lull in European war worries and generally heartening domestic industrial pros pects, the stock market today chalked off a few more yards on the upward path. Profit-taking barriers were en countered on the resumption of yes terday's advance, however, and gains running to 2 points or so in the forenoon were cut down in many instances at the close. Deal ings, lairiy lively at the start, slack ened as traders cashed in here and there. Transfers for the five hours approximated 650.000 shares. While the headlines held out re newed hopes of a possible get-to gether by the principal conflicting powers in a move to avoid hostili ties over Danzig and other problems, the dispatches were sketchy at the best and Wall Street was not en tirely convinced a peaceable solution would be found. The result, brokers said, was that buying remained cl the timid sort. Steels, motors and an assortment of specialties responded at the open ing to signs in a number of indus tries that economic betterment would continue throughout the fall and winter. Rails never were able to get far out in front and aircrafts were back ward throughout. The latter, it was suggested, may have been affected by the idea that, if an overseas peace agreement should be reached there might be a drastic downward revision in armamertts, including warplanes.
