Board of Trade Guest! Play'Wild West'at Midwinter Dinner Cowboys and Indians, 900 of Them, on Hand for Frolic Indian war whoops and cries ol “Heigh-o Silver” rang through the Mayflower Hotel last night as some 900 members of the Board of Tradi and their guests attended the board’s midwinter dinner. Staid Senators and District of ficials donned cowboy hats and In dian headdress and kept the welkin ringing with what was intended tc » be close harmony and appropriate shouts. Theme of the 51st celebration was “Days of the Golden West” and the lower lobby of the hotel was converted into a Golden West hotel with a cordon of cowboys hanging around outside and signs on the door indicating that inside was the post office, the sheriff and whisky Neither the post office nor the sheriff was visible. The guests checked their hats, coats and guns and proceeded to a feast, enjoyment of which was heightened by the announcement of President Lawrence Williams that there would be no speeches. There was none except for extemporaneous comment from the floor on the Golden West vaudeville acts that formed the entertainment. This consisted largely of ‘‘More, more.” Decked in Pine and Cedar. The dining room was decked in pine and cedar, while the stage was flanked by drops showing an In dian on horseback and a plodding pioneer with his steers. Dinner opened on a patriotic note with the singing of “The Star Spangled * Banner” by Marian McGlnley, sup ported by a few basses from the back room, where cocktails had been served previous to the meal. A brief welcome by Mr. Williams followed, with introduction of C. Hayward Marshall, chairman of the Membership Committee, and Clar ence W. Gosnell, chairman of the committee which planned the event. Nothing was too good for the guests. A corps of some 80 mem bers of the board as members of the Floor Committee stood by to su pervise the service. Members of the Floor Committee each was as signed a group of tables to look out for. They ate early, i Guests got a taste of the enter tainment to come as they entered the Golden West Hotel. Dell O’Dell, who says she is the world's leading woman magician, was busy attach ing sticks to tuxedo buttonholes and offering a prize if anybody could get the sticks off without breaking them. Xylophone Numbers Please. A feature of the vaudeville acts was one by Pansy, the horse. Pansy consisted of two rubber-limbed lads in appropriate costume, but her an tics drew shouts of laughter from the crowd. * June Boyd—billed as Little Miss Personality—pleased the group with her xylophone and Chinese costume. Abandoning her costume in favor of more modem attire, she played sev eral old favorites for the visiting tenors to go to town on. She spent most of her encores dodging the table flowers which made their ap pearance on the stage from the bal cony and the floor. Chairmen who helped in the ar ranging of the event were Thornton Owens, Advisory Committee; Mr. Williams, invitations; Francis G. Addison, reception; James A. Cas 6idy, entertainment; W. Russell Lamar, dinner and decorations; Her man F. Carl, lights and amplifiers; James W. S. Hardey, printing; Joseph F. Nebel, property; Harvey L. Jones, floor; Charles A. Robinson, publicity, and James H. Rees, trans portation. The entertainment was directed by Peter S. Larkin against a covered wagon background. The guest list follows: A Abernethy, Ale*. Amiss. T.
