Bosch, 80, Magneto Maker, Dies in Germany Inventor-Industrialist Founded Well-Known Manufacturing Firm By the Associated Press. BERLIN (from German broad casts!, March 12.—Robert A. Bosch, 80, German -ventor, industrialist and founder of the Bosch manufac turing firm, died today after a short illness at Stuttgart, where his firm made the well-known Bosch mag neto and other automotive ma chinery. Synonymous with automobile and aviation development was the name of Robert A. Bosch, known through out the world for his magnetos, spark plugs, lamps, horns and oil pump devices. Bosch was not yet 23 when he heeded the call of the New World. He went to New York and worked with Siegmund Bergmann and Mr. Edison; then back to England for a spell with Siemens Bros., at Wool wich. He was only 25 when he started on his own account, making electro medical and house telephone appli ances In a backyard workshop in Stuttgart with one man and a boy | as assistants. Then Gottlieb Daim ler, the famous automobile engineer, inspired Bosch with the spark plug Idea. In 1901 he had a small factory with a staff of 45. Then he evolved the Bosch magneto and lamp and they proved veritable gold mines.
