9 D. C. Area Officers Given Promotions By War Department Temporary promotions have been granted to nine men from the Washington area, it was announced today by the War Department. Captains who recently replaced their single silver bars with twin silver bars are Kenneth C. Gillette, formerly of 3011 Ontario road N.W., now stationed in Philadelphia, in the Signal Corps; Robert McC. Sime, 7121 Eighth street N.W.; Ed ward T. Dentry, jr„ whose address was given as Washington boulevard, Laurel, Md.; Anthonie J. Goude mond. Route 1, Alexandria, Va.; Donald W. Webber, 907 South Twenty-third street, Arlington, Va.; Alvin B. Snell, formerly of 4135 Henderson road, Arlington, and Reynolds G. Lynch of Manassas, Va. Promoted from second to first lieutenant were James S. Shannon, formerly of 6101 Broad Branch road N.W., where he lived while working for the War Depart ment before en tering the Army about two years ago. and James E. Nealon, 5821 Nevada avenue NW. Capt. Sime, whose wife lives at the Eighth street address, is on duty with the Signal Corps as signed to Phila- Nealon. delphia. An employe in the plant engineering section of the Chesa peake & Potomac Telephone Co. before entering the service in De cember, 1942, he was commodore of the West River Yachting Club and a member of the Auxiliary Coast Guard Flotilla 13. He is a graduate of George Washington University. A native of the District, Lt. Nea lon is now stationed at McDill Field, Fla., in the Corps of Engineers as signed to duty with the air forces. His sister lives at the Nevada ave nue address. He attended Gonzaga High School and Catholic University and was an engineer for the War Department working in Bermuda before enlisting in August, 1942.
