Shea Suffers Shock From Blast in Japanese Air Attack Marine Technical Sergt. Robert E. Shea. 21, is recovering from Severe shock as the result of an explosion during an air attack by Japanese near him in the South Pacific, his mother, Mrs. Marv Ann Shea, 4420 Win dom place N.W., said today as the Navy De partment re ported him as wounded. Mrs. Shea got her information on the nature of her son’s in jury from his older brother, s*m. R. e. she*. Comdr. John Dwight Shea, United States Navy, 33, who visited him in the hospital. The younger boy had mentioned his brother was in the battle area, she said, but "miles away.” A few hours before she re ceived the official notification two weeks ago, Mrs. Shea said, she got a letter from Comdr. Shea pre paring her for the news and saying the sergeant was not wounded but “badly shaken up.” Comdr. Shea heavily underscored the words, “not hurt.” his mother said. oergt. onea later wrote a letter himself, his mother said, describing his feelings when his brother ap peared beside him in the hospital. “Best thing of all, mother.” he wrote. “I’ve seen ‘Mike.’ We had a lot to talk about.” A third son. Lt. Comdr. William W. Shea, United States Navy, 39, is also in a hospital, in Colorado, recuperating from a long tour of overseas duty. Mrs. Shea is proud, she said, that none of her sons has ever revealed his type of service or battle station to her. She is the widow of J. William Shea, lawyer who died two years ago. A native of Washington, Sergt. Shea was studying at Georgetown Preparatory' School when he enlisted two years ago. The other two sons are graduates of the United States Naval Academy.
