BERN, Switzerland, April 28.— Vatican City circles expect the Archbishop of Chicago to be named a cardinal after the war, the Swiss telegraphic agency said yesterday. (The Archbishop of Chicago, the Most Rev. Samuel Alphonsus Stritch, as chairman of the Bishops’ Committee on the Pope’s Peace Points, published last June a 900-page compilation of pronouncements by recent Popes on peace, war and human rights.) Burton, former District school teacher, whdse parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Burton, live at 38 Girard street N.E., is in charge of a con tingent of woman marines recently assigned to duty here at the naval air technical training center. A graduate of Wilson Teachers’ College, Lt. Burton attended Colum bia, Northwestern, Catholic and George Washington Universities. She taught in public schools in the Dis trict and for nine months prior to her enlistment in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve she was supervisor of the receptionist unit of the War Production Board. NEW RIVER, N. C.—Six woman marines from the Washington area have completed their boot training here at Camp Lejeune. They are: Pvts. Erma Marian Whikehart, daughter of Mrs. John T. McDuffie, 6423 Eighth street N.W., re cently were commi ssioned ensigns in the Naval Reserve following their graduation from Naval Reserve Midshipmen’s School here. Ensign Piltch, who attended George Washington University, was employed as a statistical clerk for the Social Becurity Board before enlisting in the Naval Reserve. She is now on duty in Washington at the Bureau of Yards and Docks. En sign McDuffie, who is stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, is a graduate of George Washington University and Wilson Teachers’ College.
