Dr. Mordecal Johnson, president
of Howard University, is going to
the San Francisco United Nations
parley and Mrs. Mary M. Bethune,
a member of Asbury Methodist
Church, is to attend the gathering
as a consultant for the State De
partment, the Rev. R. M. Williams,
pastof of Asbury Methodist Church,
announced at a meeting of Method
ist ministers at the church, Eleventh
and K streets N.W., yesterday.
Others to attend the meeting as
State Department consultants are
Walter White, secretary of the Na
tional Association for the Advance
ment of Colored People, and Dr. W.
E. B. Du Bois, professor at Atlanta
(Ga.) University, it also was an
nounced.
The meeting, called to formulate
plans for a permanent interracial
Methodist ministers of Washington
organization, directed a committee
to draw up plans to be presented at
a future gathering. The Rev. Dr.
R. K. Nevitt, pastor of Brightwood
Park Methodist Church, uras chair
man of the meeting.
Judge William H. Hastie, dean of
the Law School of Howard Univer
sity, declared the question of inter
racial relationships may be resolved
down to the fundamental ideas of
the equality of dignity and value of
human personality in whatever in
dividual it may be found and in the
recognition of the brotherhood of
man. He asserted there is need for
bringing the belief in religion into
line with its practice in race rela
tions.
An appeal for funds for private
colored colleges was made to the
meeting by Mrs. Marion C. Hope,
executive secretary of the Washing
ton office of the United Negro Col
lege Fund. Mrs. Hope said the cur
rent drive, ending Sunday, aims at
a local quota of $36,000 and asked
ministers to urge their congrega
tions to aid.

judgment in Small Claims Court
against Stanley E. and Jack Sha

Cq., 805 Eleventr street N.W. The
suit, charging a violation of the
Emergency Price Control Act,
claimed Mrs. Wilson paid to the
company $41 for the cleaner.
