Women Lawyers Back Mrs. Gallagher for Municipal Bench The Women’s Bar Association of the District last night unanimously indorsed the recent nomination of Mrs. Nadine Lane Gallagher to be an associate judge of Municipal Court. The resolution will be sent to Chairman McCarran of the Senate Judiciary Committee. On Monday the District Bar Association an nounced that its members had voted almost 9 to 1 against the appoint ment. Mrs. Sara Mero Williams of the general counsel’s office. National Housing Agency, was elected presi dent of the association for the second year at the meeting In the Mayflower Hotel. Mrs. Williams, who has been with the agency for about a year, former ly was with the Veterans’ Adminis tration. Before becoming president of the association last year, she was treasurer two years, corresponding secretary for a like period and has served on many committees. She lives at 3220 Conneticut avenue N.W. Other officers elected were Miss Mary-Frances Glenn, vice presi dent: Miss Nora O. Rentz, treasurer: Miss Elizabeth Franzoni, recording secretary; Mrs. Minnie Cheseldine, corresponding secretary: Mrs. Irene Kennedy and Mrs. Grace Brown Stiles, directors for three-year terms, and Mrs. Evalyn Krupp, di rector for a one-year term. Another resolution expressed re gret at the death of Chief Justice Stone and extended sympathy to Mrs. Stone. The association also in dorsed Judge Florence E. Allen of Cleveland, Ohio, sitting on the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Appeals, for the United States Supreme Court. Mrs. Williams gave a summary of activities of the past year, and men tioned various honors members re ceived and described their achieve ment. Reports of various commit tees were read. Rollins Honors D. C. Girl Miss Patricia Bastian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. F. Bastian, 4719 Thirteenth street N.W., has been elected to member ship in Theta Alpha Phi, honorary dramatic fraternity, at Rollins Col lege, Winter Park, Fla.
