Bethesda Civitan Club Plans Annual Harvest Show on Sept. 22 The Bethesda Civitan Club will sponsor the fourth annual Harvest Shot to be held at the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School Septem ber 22. Comdr. N. E. Disbrow will be in charge of arrangements. Built around the theme, “A Year's Harvest of All Community Inter ests," the show will feature pro ducts of the homes, clubs, shops and gardens of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area. Innovations this year will be a pet show to be held on the grounds of the high school, with prizes for the most unusual and the best trained pets, and a junior "hobby lobby" where the youngsters under 16 will appear with their hobby exhibits. Mrs. Ethel Taylor is chairman of hobby and crafts exhibits. At a meeting of the Harvest Show Committee this week Mrs. Prank Wilcox, chairman of educational ex hibits, reported that Dr. Donald E. McHenry will display an exhibit of "birds in the garden,” using stuffed birds. Mrs. Florence Matteosian will sponsor a display of "flowers of the woods and fields," showing these plants in their natural habitat. The Beltsville Experimental Station, through Dr. A. C. Foster, will ex hibit DDT and other recently re leased bug and weed killers. There will be educational exhibits also by the Potomac Rose Society, the Chevy Chase and Bethesda Gar den Clubs and the Men’s Garden Club of Montgomery County. The 12-page schedule, for which Mrs. Clark Hilles drewT the cover design, may be obtained after Sep tember 12 from Mrs. George A. Smith, chairman of schedules, Wis consin 7155. Other newly named chairmen of the show are Capt. J. A. Guard, judges; Mrs. J. H. 81 debottom, scor ing and tabulation; Mrs. Robert Thomas, artistic arrangements. Edward K. Bender is general chairman of the show and the Civitan Sponsoring Committee, in addition to Comdr. Disbrow, is com posed of John Cemiglia, Donn Reed, D. M. Tune and L. M. Northern. Ex-Pilot Kuroki Gets East-West Council Post Ben Kuroki, former Army pilot i who completed 58 missions in the European and Pacific areas before his discharge, has accepted a posi tion as executive secretary of the Washington Council of the East and West Association. During his Army service, Mr. Kuroki won three Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters and 10 Bronze Battle Stars.
