Wife of Henry Contee Bowie Cla gett, sr., owner of the Washington brokerage house of John R. Ergood & Co., Mrs. Clagett was a mem ber of a prominent Maryland fam ily. She was born on the family estate, Mattaponi, and lived dur ing her youth in Baltimore with her uncle, William L. Marbury, a prominent lawyer in that city. Mrs. Clagett was active in the promotion of garden tours in Mary land as a member of the Forest Garden Ciub of Prince Georges County and as past president of the Maryland Federation of Wom en’s Clubs. She was on the Board of Lady Managers of the Episcopal Church Home and was a member of the Board of Managers of the Episcopal Home for Children and the Episcopal Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. She also was a member of the Junior League of Baltimore and the Maryland Federation of Women Voters. For many years the Clagett fam ily lived at 2230 Q street N.W. dur ing the winter season. She is survived, besides her hus band, by two sons, Henry Contee Bowie Clagett, jr„ and Fendall Mar bury Clagett; two daughters, Miss Silvine Marbury Clagett and Mrs. John R. Dr. Staughton was the great grandson of the first president of George Washington University—the old Columbian College—the Rev. Dr. William Staughton. Born in Winona, Minn., he has lived in the District since 1905. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota's School of Electrical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Co., of Pittsburgh and later became an electrical engineer at the Naval Proving Grounds, Indianhead, Md. At that time he decided to change professions and entered the Riley Chiropractors’ School here He was graduated in 1921 and opened offices at 6979 Maple street N.W. William Geoghegan Dies; Merchant Marine Officer Lt. Comdr. William D. Geoghegan, 58, of the Merchant Marine service died yesterday at Emergency Hos pital of an illness arising from a two-year heart ailment. Comdr. Geoghegan first was stricken aboard the U. S. S. Uru guay, as it was withstanding a submarine attack ofl the British Isles in Mav, 1944. He had been on military leave from the Moore-McCormack Lines, Inc., where he had been chief purser on the Uruguay in its run between New York and South America. When the ship was converted to a troop transport he stayed aboard in the same capacity. A native of Louisville, Ky., he served in the World War as first sergeant of a railway engineer unit. He is survived by his brother, Thomas D. Geoghegan, a transpor tation specialist, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Banta, Portland, Tenn. Funeral services were to be held at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery Chapel at 3 p m. today with burial in the cemetery.
