White, 62, a manual arts Instructor at the Jefferson Junior High School, that the unsatisfactory rating given him by the principal of the school be changed, was taken under advise ment by the Board of Education’s j Grievance and Complaint Commit J tee yesterday after a three-hour j hearing. Hugh S. Smith, principal of the school, testified that Mr. White had no control over his students, was lacking in his teaching methods and did not have the temperament to handle the age group of boys who attended the school. During the two and one-half years he served at the school, his performance ratings were lower and lower, Mr. Smith said. “I never saw the man until he came to my front door,” Mr. Smith testified, "and had nothing against him. But it was only in his shop that we had the terrific breakdown of morale among the boys. I gave him more time than all of the other teachers together in an effort to ; help.” Mr. White, who was represented by Attorney Henry Gilligan, a for mer memoer of the Board of Edu cation, told the committee that "if i Mr. Smith had given me the sup gelma J a honey of a suit in honey-beige gabardine Detailed to perfection right down to its brown alligator belt, • designed for soft flattery, this Selma semi-tailored suit is destined to be one indis pensable in your autumn wordrobe.
