New Realty License Denied Schlein After Usurious Loan Case Renewal of the real estate license of Maurice I. Schlein, head of the Federal Finance & Realty Co., 915 New York avenue N.W., has been refused by the District Real Estate Commission, it was learned today. The commission refused to renew the permit on the ground he was guilty of making a “usurious” $500 loan to Mrs. Nannie Smith, 1617 Eleventh street N.W., and her two daughters and then auctioning off the Maryland property used as se curity for the loan when they missed two of their $12-a-month payments. Purchased for S300. A representative of his company purchased the property for $300 at the auction “for the benefit” of the broker, the commission found. District Court already had awarded damages to the Smiths and said, in its opinion, the broker had prac ticed fraud “gross in nature, prac ticed wilfully and oppressively upon untutored, trusting victims.” The transaction involved took place In 1938, but the case was not completed until early this year. Another License Revoked. At (he same time, it was learned, the commission has revoked the li cense of Everett J.
