Acting Supt. of Parks Harry T. Thompson also has listed, for week-end enjoyment, a mush room walk in Rock Creek Park, a nature ramble at Dyke Overlook on the Mount Vernon Memorial High way, and mule-drawn canal barge excursions. Historian Stanley W. McClure, who 'will conduct the historical tour, will relate the history of old Ford's Theater and the story of the assas sination, the death ot Lincoln and the flight of John Wilkes Booth. The tour will be organized at the Lincoln Museum, 511 Tenth street N.W., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. ‘‘Mushrooms of the Autumn” will be observed and discussed by John A. Stevenson, In co-operation with Park Naturalist W. Drew Chick during the walk to be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday In Rock Creek Park. The group will meet at Mil itary road and Oregon avenue. The nature ramble along the CONVERTED RUSSIAN JEWISH LAWYER TO SPEAK i Tour Slated irks' Activities 0 Mount Vernon Memorial highway will be directed by Mr. Chick from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday. The ramble will begin at the Dyke park ing area on the highway, which can be reached via the Mount Vernon bus leaving the A. B. & W. bus term inal at Twelfth street and Pennsyl vania avenue N.W., at 1:30 pjn. The mule-drawn "Canal Clipper” will leave Lock No. 6 at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and will re turn from Foundry Branch at 4:30 p.m., on both days. Lock No. 6 is adjacent to Stop No. 35 on the Glen Echo carline and can be reached by auto by turning left on Maryland avenue from MacArthur boulevard. Foundry Branch is near Stop No. 3 on the Glen Echo Line. Autos may park on Forty-fourth street, Foxhall road, or MacArthur boulevard above the canal. Barge tickets are on sale during the week at the Capital Transit Co, 1416 F street N.W,. and at the barge prior to the trips. Park Naturalist Gordon Gaumnitz will accompany the Sat urday trips, and Historian Dean Hausrath will act as narrator for the Sunday excursions. Europeans' Fate Held Dependent Upon U. S. The conduct of the United States in Europe is a matter of life and death to the people there, Henry E. Niles, insurance executive, told the first fall meeting of the Wash ington chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management last night. Mr. Niles, vice president of the Baltimore Life Insurance Co., re ported on the session of the Eighth International Management Con gress held in Stockholm, Sweden, in July. "Because of America’s amazing record of production and techno logical achievement during the war, a sick Europe looks to us for aid in its industrial reconstruction,” he added. Charles C. Concannon, director of the Chemical Industry Division of the Commerce Department, said most Americans fail to realize the place of the United States in world affairs, and they have no true con cept of the problems of the rest " of the world. What the world needs is to "roll up its sleeves and go to work,” Mr. Concannon declared. He challenged management groups to stimulate discussion of international problems among industrial leaders of the top management level. Dr. Hawlow S. Person, manage ment authority, and winner of the international gold metal of the congress for his contributions to scientific management literature, was honored at the meeting which was held in the Mayflower Hotel. British Pastor to Speak At Asbury Church The Rev. Dr. William E. Sangster, pastor of Central Methodist Church, one of the largest Protestant church es in England, will be the guest speaker at the Asbury Methodist Church, Eleventh and K streets N.W. at 8 o’clock tonight. There will be a reception in his honor and also for the pastor, Dr. Robert M. Williams, who has just returned from a two-month tour of Europe. Three choirs will provide the music. The public is invited. Dr. Williams will preach Sunday morning. Jesse Owens, the cele brated colored sprinter, will make a short talk.
