Montgomery Retires; Commerce Food Consultant Edward G. Montgomery, who has served the Government for 30 years as an agricultural specialist, retired yesterday as consultant in the food division of the Commerce Depart ment. Author of three of the earliest agricultural textbooks, Mr. Mont gomery is a native of Milan, Mo. He was graduated from the Uni versity of Nebraska in 1906 and later taught agronomy there and at Cor nell University. He became connected with the Agriculture Department during his teaching days and first came to Washington as chief of foreign [marketing In the department In [ 1820.
