Cromwell, former husband of Doris Duke, was married to Miss Maxine MacFetridge, Birm ingham divorcee, in a quiet cere mony at the Foundry Methodist Church yesterday. Members of the families and a few friends attended ‘the ceremony. The Rev. Frederick Brown Harris officiated. Mr. Cromwell, who is 57, and his 37-vear-old bride posed for photo graphers on the church steps after j the ceremony. As they entered an | automobile to attend a private re ception, friends threw several boxes j ; of rice which they had purchased a; few' minutes before from a corner j grocery. The Cromwells said they were going to Bermuda and then make their home in a “little 12-room house in Weehawken,“ on the New Jersey Palisades. A divorce between Mr. Cromwell, former minister to Canada, and Miss Duke became absolute last month. The new Mrs. Cromwell was married in 1935 to Paul A. Ivy, jr., of Birmingham, and they were divorced in 1941. Her father manages the Birmingham plant of the Lehigh-Portland Cement Co. | A dress designer, she served with! the American Red Cross in France and England in the war. In a separate report prepared for 4 the Senate Small Business Commit tee, of which he is a member, Sen ator Murray said: ) “The continuing steel shortage is ;he serious bottleneck which pre vents American industry from sup plying all the goods the Nation demands » * • anj offers the great est threat to our security and for eign aid programs.” j If industry is unable or unwilling to finance expansiqp of steel pro duction capacity by 10,000,000 tons, he went on, then the Government should provide RFC loans for that purpose at 3 per cent interest. Re payments would be deferable dur ing time of depressed business. He recommended that the admin istration call industry leaders, in-, dependent steel users and organized labor together in a working com mittee to formulate a steel capacity program by the end of next July.
