BRIO Hotel RALEIGH Twelfth and Penna, Are. N.W. After Dark Inka, Not Inca, Trio From Peru Takes Over at the Blue Room Night club patrons bored with the usual routine of dancers, singers and comedians making with the enter tainment at most After Dark spots, are promised something different this week by the Shoreham’s Blue Room. Appearing with Gomez and Beatrice (dancers), are the Inka Takl Trio. They are natives of Peru, and feature songs of that re gion as well as South American folk ballads and the more widely-known rumbas. The group made a recent appear ance here at a concert at the Pan American Union. Max Lowe, the Shoreham's entertainment overseer, heard about them and dashed ffff waving a contract. Featured is Senorita Imma Su mack. According to her teacher. Morises Bivanco, also a member of the trio, she can sing in three reg isters and compete with Lily Pons right down to the wire when it comes to hitting the high notes. The three accompany themselves on Inka <we protested it was spelled Inca, but Senor Bivanco protested right back) instruments. In this country since 1946, they have played hotel and concert dates throughout the land. Several ap pearances at New York's Carnegie Hall are booked for the Peruvians. ♦ * * * One of the bigger laughs boom ing around the Capitol Theater this week comes when Xavier Cugat mentions Petrillo—and he and most of the band slide to their knees and salaam. Although the undisputed czar of music has declared an ab solute ban on recording—and it seem he can do that sort of thing— he did relax his hold long enough to permit some records to be made here. With what the publicity releases on the subject said was the great man's blessing, the Beach Johnson Trio cut many sides. But they are traffic safety jingles, part of the Commissioners’ Traffic Advisory Board’s safety campaign. Johnson, now appearing with his group at the Crescent Cafe, has set the jingles to music from popular songs. * * * * Erwin Straus, pianist at the Nep tune Room and son of musical com edy composer' Oscar, has just been informed a trunk of valuable music belonging to the father and son, be lieved lost in Paris, has been found.
