Completion of the highway in j volves large expenditures and is 'dependent on the outcome of the ; traffic study now under way, Mr. Heath said. "Final figures of the, survey may indicate other routes generally par alleling the present route would better serve the motoring public,” Mr. Heath continued, "although Eastern avenue, if extended, would i undoubtedly serve residents from !the entire area.” At present the highway stops at Willow ave., jumps two blocks to Cedar avenue*, and runs to Piney Branch road. Completion of the two blocks had been sought by the chamber when It asked the Streets and Highways Committee of the House District Committee to insti tute condemnation proceedings to complete the project. Representative Beall and Mr. Heath, both guests of the business men at the dinner meeting at Nelson’s Restaurant, reviewed the over-all traffic problems of Metro politan Washington. Tank Knocks Car Around GERING, Nebr. </P).—A parade1 here, featuring an M-26 tank, was impressive. But no one was more impressed with the military might on display than O. N. Flaten. The tank maneuvered too close to Mr. Flaten’s car. The caterpillar treads hooked the back bumper, hoisted the car 5 feet in the air and bounced it off another car. Damage to the automobile was estimated at $100. The tank wasn't damaged.
