recruited to work in Ruhr steel mills
as Western Germany girds to do Its
part In the European Recovery Pro
gram. They are being employed In
lighter types of work, such as crane
driving and unliading lighter prod
ucts and ancillary materials. How
ever, plant managers pointed out
that every woman so engaged re
leased a man for heavier work, di
rectly contributing to rising steel
output.
