The Dunbar House is the old Portner apartment hotel at Fif teenth and U streets\N.W. It was purchased about four years ago by the Dunbar organization, which converted it into an apartment and rooming house. Extensive renova tions are being made in the build ing, and it is proposed to convert it into a hotel in the, near future. The Tavern, Inc., was in the Dun bar House and has been closed for several months because the lease had expired and the Dunbar or ganization did not want to ex tend it. Most of the protests were made on the grounds that an undesir able element was attracted to the place and women had been mo lested passing the place. Capt. Albert I. Bulloch, com manding No. 13 police precinct, said he had received many com plaints about the tavern. During the past year police of his precinct had made 288 arrests in and on the street in front of the tavern, he said. The Rev. Edmond J. Fontaine pastor of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Fifteenth and V streets, said the noise made by patrons of the tav ern had kept him awake at night. He said he had also received com plaints from members of his con gregation. Arthur E.
