Cosmic Ray Scientist Dies, 3 Survive Leap From Burning B-29 By th« Associated Press LA GRANGE, Ga., Sept. 7.—Four men parachuted from a burning B-29 Army bomber yesterday and three landed alive on the ground 0,000 feet below. The fourth, Prof. H. W. Baldwin of the University of Chicago, a cosmic ray research worker, hurtled to his death by a small creek a mile from Evansville, Ga., near the ‘Ala bama State line. His parachute had failed to open. The four bailed out after the pilot, MaJ.
