Television Joins in Thanksgiving Celebration With 2-Hour Show By Harry MacArthur Television this year becomes for the first time a large-scale partici pant in radio’s celebration of to morrow's Thanksgiving holiday. ‘‘Holiday Star Vanities,” on the ABC-TV network and WMAL-TV tomorrow night at 7:30, will be the video counterpart of the big holi day shows, ‘’Holiday Star Time” and ‘’Thanksgiving Festival,” pre sented for regular radio listeners. Each of the latter two is paying its seventh annual visit to the air lanes. “Holiday Star Time" will be heard on the NBC network, via WRC locally, from 4 to 6 p.m. “Thanks giving Festival,” the all-star CBS offering, will be broadcast by WTOP during the same period. The two-hour television show on WMAL-TV tomorrow evening will have George Jessel, toastmaster, movie producer and one-time stage comedian, as its master of cere monies. The talented cast of the musical revue will include Connee Boswell, Phil Regan, Ethel Smith, the Golden Gate Singers, Grace and Paul Hartman, Phil Silvers, Paul Draper, Morey Amsterdam, Peter Lind Hayes, Jerry Colonna, Jean Sablon and the Baird Puppets. Music will be supplied by the Paul Air Force Wing to Get Its Charter Tonight The newly formed District Wing of the Air Force Association will receive its charter from the national organization on the stage of the Warner Theater at 8:30 o’clock to night The ceremony will pre cede the premier showing of the motion picture “Fighter Squadron.” George D. Hardy, 9 Delano drive S.E., has been named temporary commander of the local unit. Other temporary officers are Ernest J. Le Blanc and Francis E. Draley, jr„ vice commanders, and Mrs. Lydia L. Lindquist, secretary. WNBW has this scheduled for 10:10 a.m. and WMAL-TV plans to start the broadcast at 10:15. It will last about an hour. Arthur Godfrey will act as master of ceremonies for the CBS “Thanks giving Festival." The cast he will introduce during the two-hour revue includes Amo6 ’n’ Andy, Ab bott and Costello. Dorothy Lamour, Danny Kaye, Abe Burrows, Marie Wilson and a number of others. “Holiday Star Time" will feature a number of NBC stars, including Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Jimmy Durante, Garry Moore. Vera Vague, Frances Langford and a host of others. Don Ameche will be the master of ceremonies. Jddge John P. McMahon, however, turned them loose without a fine on condition that the next time they come here to sell subscriptions they pay the $5 license fee and abide by other regulations. Part of the soliciting rule requires the workers to post a $500 bond to cover their activities.
