STEPHENl KALMARY. 2 Brothers Who Died Day Apart To Have Joint Arlington Burial Marceys, Both Born In County, Grew Up On Cherrydale Farm Two brothers, Arlington natives and among the oldest lifelong resi dents of the county, will be buried in Columbia Gardens Cemetery after double funeral services at 2 p.m. to morrow. They died a day apart on Christmas morning and yesterday. They W'ere James Filmore Marcey, 89, and Walter Marcey, 76, two of four brothers who grew up on a. farm at Cherrydale and worked for many years at Arlington Cemetery. James Filmore Marcey, known al ways, as ‘‘Phil,:’ died Christmas morning at his home, 2616 North Military road. He had told his family not to buy him Christmas presents because ‘‘I won’t be here much longer.” He hfld suffered from a heart ailment for a long time. Walter Marcey, known as “Pat,” died of a heart ailment yesterday at the part-log family homestead, 2666 North Military road. He had; been unconscious for two days and, did not know of his brother's death. The funeral services will be in Walker’s Chapel Methodist Church.; Glebe and Dittmar roads, Arling-: ton. Six nephews will serve as pall-; bearers for the elder brother, pat Marcey, who was a member of Temple Masonic Lodge, Falls Church, will be given Masonic services. Pat Marcey, who was a charter member of the Cherrydale Fire De partment, retired in 1933 as head gardener at the Agriculture Depart j ment's Arlington Experimental iFarm. In Government service for more than 40 years, Mr. Marcey had 1 previously worked in Arlington Cemetery. He is survived by his widow. Mrs. Ida Graham Marcey; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Myers of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Virginia Barton of the home address, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving both the Marceys are their two brothers, who worked with them at Arlington for many years. I, Mrs. Brackett's body, clad In another woman's clothes, was found Christmas Eve in the rear yard of a home owned by Mrs. Rose Lom bardi. Police Chief Edmund Crowley identified the two sought as Joseph W. Tfrerrien, 22. and George St. James, 18. both boarders in Mrs. Lombardi’s home. He said he held warrants charging each with man slaughter and aggravated assault, j The chief quoted Mrs. Lombardi as saying Therrien and St. James told her that they met Mrs. Brack ett in a tavern Friday night and took her to a barn behind the Lom bardi home where, after attacking her, they had strangled her. Then jthey buried her body in a nearby wooded are. The chief quoted Mrs. Lombardi as saying that when she expressed doubt that Mrs. Brackett was dead, the pair disinterred her body and brought it into the house. There. Chief Crowley said, they dressed the body in some of Mrs. Lombardi’s clothing and the men took it to the rear yard and disappeared. The police, responding to a cal! from Mrs. Lombardi, found the body. Mrs. Lombardi, her son. Carmine. 17. and Edmund Kirschner, 16, were arrested on a technical charge of breach of the peace on the basis of “statements” Chief Crowley said they had made to authorities, in cluding investigators for the State's attorney’s office. Mrs. Lombardi was held in $10,000 bond pending preliminary arraing ment in Police Court today while bonds for the youths were set at $5,000 each. Thomas Madden Dies; Veteran Circus Clown | By th« Associated Press OLEAN. N. Y., Dec. 27.—Thomas Madden. 87, a circus clown for 40 years, died yesterday. Mr. Madden, who lived here since retiring 25 years ago, joined the Ringling Wagon Show in 1880 as a $3-a-week waiter in the dining tent. He became a clown the following year, receiving $25 a week, and was advertised as “America's Best.” After two years with Ringling, Mr. Madden shifted to P. T. Barnum’s show. Later he was with Maj. Gor don W. Lillie's Wild West show and Poggie O’Brien’s railroad circus. Di CASE OP DEATH CAT' CO. 0432 Eric Haquinius Dies; Map Service Analyst Eric Haquinius, 54, a research analyst for the Army Map Service, died of a heart attack Saturday at his home in the Jefferson Apart ments, 1200 Sixteenth street N.W. Mr. Haquinius, who had returned recently from a round-the-world trip for the Army, was preparing for an assignment in Germany. He had recently joined the Map Service. A native of Sweden. Mr. Haquin ius came to the United States in 1916 and served as an Army pilot in World War I. After the war he joined the Geological Survey and also did reclamation and conserva toin work as chief engineer of the Possum-Kingdom Dam, Mineral Wells, Texas. Just before World War II he worked as chief engineer of the Red River Ordnance Depot. During the war he served as a lieutenant colonel of engineers in North Africa and Italy. He belonged to a num ber of engineering societies. Surviving are his widow’, Mrs. Helen Hammond Haquinius, and a brother. Col Folke Maquinius of Stockholm. Mr. Haquinius will be buried in Arlington, but funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed. Gen. Grote Hutcheson Services to Be Held at Arlington Tomorrow Burial services will be held In Arlington Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. to morrow for Maj. Gen. Grote Hutch eson. 86, Indian fighter and organizer of the Newport News Port of Em barkation. He died at his home in Saratoga. Calif., December 14. Gen. Hutcheson retired in 1924 after commanding the 11th Field Artillery Brigade at Schofield Bar racks. Hawaii. He had served as a major general commanding the 14th Infantry Division at Fort Custer, Mich., and Fort Meade, Md., during World War I. The general lived here from the time of his retirement until about 1934, when he moved to California. For more than a year after leaving the Army he served as director gen eral of the Washington Cathedral Foundation, in charge of the foun dation's business affairs. a native ot Cincinnati, Gen. Hutcheson was graduated from West Point in 1884. He participated in Indian campaigns in west. He served as adjutant general in the Puerto Rico expedition of 1898 and as judge advocate and Inspector general with the China Relief ex pedition of 1900, taking part in the advance on Peking. In 1901 and 1902 he was secretary to the mili tary governor of the Philippines. During World War I, he or ganned recruit depots in Texas and Kentucky and organized the Port of Embarkation at Newport News and Norfolk, Va., for which he waa awarded the Army and Navy Dis tinguished Service Medals. Gen. Hutcheson was a member of the Order of the Dragon, Order of the Carabao, Society of Foreign Wars, Army and Navy Club, Chevy Chase Club, Lotos Club and Hamil ton Club. He is survived by his widow, Mri. Ann Pegram Hutcheson. During the war he became known as “London's most-bombed bishop" because four large churches near his home were destroyed by bombs. At that time he was Bishop of Southwark, a South London diocese of the Church of England. Mathematician Dies at 80 BERKLEY, Calif., Dec. 27 Dr. Frank Irwin, 80, professor emeritus of mathematics at the University of California, died Saturday. Dr. Erwin, a graduate of Harvard University, taught at Princeton University until coming here in 1911. He retired 10 years ago.
