Paul Dickerson, 56, an equip ment installer for an electrical appliance firm, told police the man knocked on his door about 11:30 o'clock last night. The stranger displayed a large knife and forced his way into the apart ment, he continued. Publicity Man, 57, Routs Mutt and Jeff Holdup Pair Police today were looking high, i and low for a 6-foot-5-inch bandit and his 5-foot-6-inch accomplice who attempted to hold up a 57 year-old public relations man here ! yesterday. The taller of the two. about 24, with a hatchet face and a long nose, pulled a pistol on J. Jerome Menkus, whose office is in the Dupont Circle Building, and said “this is a stick-up,” according to' police. But Mr. Menkus, a 200-pound! former Navy man, doubled up his adversary with a right hook, forcing him to abandon the hold up. He fled with his accomplice, who had gone into another room during the scuffle. Police said William M. Lennox, 39, who operated a filling station on Lee highway near Fairfax, was last seen by his partner, Craig R. Deane, on Wednesday. Mr. Deane reported he found a $7,400 short age after his partner’s disappear ance.
