Model Air Show Planned Here for Next June 25 rians are under way to make the next National Capital Model Air Show the largest and •most; spectacular ever held in the United States. The fifth running of the meet will be next June 25. it was -an nounced yesterday by directors of the show association, a non profit, non-commerqjal group seeking to foster interest in aviation among young people. As in past years, the meet prob ably will be held at a nearby airbase. Last year an official at tendance of 115,000 persons saw the free show at Andrews Air Force Base. The calendar of events for the forthcoming show will be the same as last year, and approval is expected soon from the Academy of Model Aeronautics, governing body of model aviation. The meet again is being spon sored by The Star, the National Airport Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, in association with the Plymouth Dealers of Metro politan Washington. The Mili tary Air Transport Service will co-operate. Its headquarters are at Andrews. William A. Pennoyer, contest ’irector last year, has been fo oted to serve again. John P. Brock, District man ager of Trans World Airline, has been elected president of the show association, succeeding Waldo E. Nichols. At a meeting of the directors held last week, Mr. Nichols was lauded for the excellent manner in which he has administered the office of presi dent. He declined re-election be cause his three years as a trustee ! of the group soon will expire. The various airlines, aviation service companies and aircraft manufacturers will donate many prizes to the winners of the con test. The aviation industry, as well as civic and military leaders, have indorsed the show as a medium for imbuing fair play and sports manship • in youth.
