City-Owned Parking Lot Deal Is as Snarled as D. C. Traffic The job of untangling the mix up surrounding a city-owned parking lot near Municipal Center laced the Commissioners today. Grand Plaza Area Parking, Inc., gave up its lease at midnight Sat urday on the lot at Sixth street and Indiana avenue N.W., be cause it was losing money. Meanwhile, the city had asked for bids on the remainder of the two-year lease which ran until December 1, 1951. When the bids were opened last Friday, it was found the highest bidder had based his offer on a two-year lease rather than the unexpired term. No lease has been awarded. Benjamin Wollberg, president of the Grand Plaza company, told the Commissioners he would oper ate the lot until a new lessee took over, in order to prevent con fusion. But running the lot with Mr. Wollberg yesterday was Julius Sirkis, head of the B. & J. Park ing Service, who was second high est bidder. Paul Chalupsky, District prop erty officer, said Mr. Sirkis was on the lot without authority. Mr. Wollberg said he was going to work for Mr. Sirkis. Mr. Sirkis's bid was $80,313 for the unexpired portion of the lease, which would amount to $4,227 a month. Mr. Wollberg’s lease for the two years starting last De cember 1 called for $5,252.52 rental a month. Mr. Wollberg informed the Com missioners he had lost $7,000 since he obtained the lease. He said there wasn’t enough business. Vitamin B-12 The Amazing Red Vitamin for Blood Building 30-Day Supply, $3.00 Vita Food Stores 3040 14th St. N.W. What is real security? It's the kind that comes from the work people do and what they save. When you come right down to facts, even such security as is provided by government must be paid for out of the earnings of the people. Government’s income is from taxes, whether you pay them directly or whether they come from the businesses whose goods and services you buy. Either way, all taxes eventually come out of your pocket. Security needs differ with every family; so plans for security must be individually arranged. That is why 80 million Americans are using life insurance to build their own security. To do this most effectively, they get the experienced advice of the life insurance agent. For the agent is a specialist in helping people get the full benefit of their hard-earned security dollars.
