Primaries on in Idaho, Nebraska, Arkansas; Taylor Bid Is Feature ftv the Associated! Press A torrid campaign featuring the renomination attempt of Senator Glen Taylor. Democrat, of Idaho and a record 59 candidates is ex pected to draw a heavy Idaho primary vote today. The ex-cowboy singer’s chief op position is expected from former Senator D. Worth Clark. The third aspirant is Representative Comp ton I. White. Aspirants for the Republican nomination for the six-year Sen ate seat are Gov. C. A. Robins. Representative John E. Sanborn and Herman Welker. Candidates also will be chosen for a four-year unexpired term in the Senate now filled by Senator Henry C. Dworshak. There were also primaries today In Arkansas and Nebraska, but they drew comparatively little out-of-State interest. In Nebraska, there is no Senate contest this year. Val Peterson, Republican Governor, is trying for a third term nomination. Run ning for the Democratic governor ship nomination in a wide open race are no fewer than five candi dates. There are also primary contests for four House seats. Most of Arkansas’ primary con tests were decided in a first pri mary July 25. Also, since Senator J. William Fulbright and six House members are unopposed for Democratic renomination, ,it wras left up to local races to generate any heat. Wheelchair Veteran Held in Ward Killing By tht Associated Press RICHMOND, Va„ Aug. 8—A paralyzed army veteran was being held today to await a Federal grand jury's action in October on a charge he shot and killed a leg less friend. Clary was shot six times with a .25 caliber pistol. The shooting occurred in the paraplegic ward, where six other patients w'heeled themselves out when they saw the gun being drawm, according to Dr. L. H. Wright, hospital manager. Dr. Wright said the shooting followed a quarrel between Kennedy and Clary. j Virginia Police Ordered To Reduce Traffic Toll By th« Associated Press RICHMOND, Va.. Aug. 8.— State police have been directed by Gov. Battle to step up their en forcement efforts to cut down the highway traffic toll w'hich has seen more than 500 persons killed so far this year. ‘‘The great majority of these so called accidents are the direct re sult of violations of our traffic laws,” Gov.
