A torrid campaign featuring the
renomination attempt of Senator
Glen Taylor. Democrat, of Idaho
and a record 59 candidates is ex

primary vote today.
The ex-cowboy singer’s chief op
position is expected from former
Senator D. Worth Clark. The third
aspirant is Representative Comp
ton I. White.
Aspirants for the Republican
nomination for the six-year Sen
ate seat are Gov. C. A. Robins.
Representative John E. Sanborn
and Herman Welker.
Candidates also will be chosen
for a four-year unexpired term in
the Senate now filled by Senator
Henry C. Dworshak.
There were also primaries today
In Arkansas and Nebraska, but
they drew comparatively little
out-of-State interest.
In Nebraska, there is no Senate
contest this year. Val Peterson,
Republican Governor, is trying for
a third term nomination. Run
ning for the Democratic governor
ship nomination in a wide open
race are no fewer than five candi

contests for four House seats.
Most of Arkansas’ primary con
tests were decided in a first pri

J. William Fulbright and six
House members are unopposed for
Democratic renomination, ,it wras
left up to local races to generate
any heat.
