A 68-unit elevator apartment
for colored occupancy was among
projects for which permits were
issued during the last week by the
District's Central Permit Office.
Permit valuation for this apart
ment building, to be known as
Holly House, is $400,000. The loca
tion will be 1825 T street N.W.
Owner is Holly House, Inc., and
builder is Holly Builders, Inc.

way in the District area. Above is 138-unit luxury building at 4301 Massachusetts avenue N.W.

and 11 stories on side facing Government park. Corning & Moore are the architects. Owner
is 4301 Massachusetts Avenue, Inc.
This is the new Holmead Apartments, to have 99 rental units at 3435 Holmead place N.W. for
which excavation has beg:un. The building: will have five stories, basement and sub-basement.
Architect is Milton J. Prassas. Owner is Holmead Apartments, Inc. In addition to the apart
ments, the building: will have two professional offices, the architect said.
Poole Handles Sale
Nathan Poole, president of
Drury Realty dorp., this week
handled the purchase of the 6
story garage at 1514 L street N.W.
for Ducirco, Inc., of which Jerome
Murray is president. Seller was
Southland Life Insurance Co. of
Texas. The price was reported to
be over $1.1 million. The garage
will park 450 cars.

Navy Engineer Wins
Prize for Design
Of Welded Bridge
The James F. Lincoln Arc Weld
ing Foundation, Cleveland, this
week announced that Arsham
Amirikian, 6526 Western avenue,
Chevy Chase, Md., received hon
orable mention in a competition
for the design of a welded bridge.
Thirteen awards totaling $10,
750 were made in competition for
an all-welded 250-foot highway
bridge.
Mr. Amirikian’s prize was $200.
A first award of $5,000 was given
to James H. Jennison, Pasadena,
Calif. Second * award of $2,000
went to Ernst Amstutz, Zurich,
Switzerland.
Mr. Amirikian is head design
engineer of the Navy’s Bureau of
Yards and Docks. He is a gradu
ate of Cornell University, class of
1923, as a civil engineer.

designers in the world participated
in the competition, the foundation
said.
