Truman's Physician
Nominated for Rank
Of Major General
President Truman yesterday
nominated his personal physician,
Brig. Gen. Wallace H. Graham,
for promotion to the rank of ma
jor general.
Gen. Graham's name was on a
list of Air Force nominations sub
mitted to the Senate.
A former Kansas City surgeon,
Gen. Graham entered the Army
as a first lieutenant and has been
a brigadier general since Septem
ber 12, 1946. Gen. Graham has
been Mr. Truman’s physician since
he became President in 1945.
Mr. Truman also recommended
the following major generals for
promotion to the rank of lieuten
ant general:
Earl E. Partridge, commander of
the 5th Air Force in the Far
East: Otto P. Weyland, deputy
commander of the Far East Air
Forces; Robert W. Harper. Air
Training Command; Laurence S.
Kuter, commander of the Military
Air Transport Service, and Rich
ard E. Nugent, Deputy Chief of
Staff for Personnel in Air Force
headquarters here.

Named Foreign Chief

formally appointed Chancellor
Konrad Adenauer as West Ger
many’s first foreign minister.
The 75-year-old chancellor
nominated himself for the post!
Tuesday, and Heuss’s approval was:
