Cost Rise Proposals
Members of Group Health As
sociation, Inc., today still had be
fore them the prospect of in-1
creased dues, following another
meeting on the subject last night.
Although no vote was asked
during the meeting in the Fedr
eral Security Agency auditorium,
Third street and Independence
avenue S.W., the 300 persons
present were acquainted with sev
eral proposals for increasing the
income of the organization. The
proposals involve not only dues
increases, but higher fees for
clinic visits.
One proposal would raise the
dues per member by 75 cents a
month. Another calls for a 50
cent increase said to be recom
mended by the Board of Trustees
and higher charges, such as a
raise from $2 to $3 for the first
home call. Another suggests a
straight increase in service
charges, as well as a new charge
of $1.50 for each consultation in
a clinic with a doctor.
Ballots on the proposed in
creases will be mailed to thou
sands of members next week. The
pons wr.l close June 8, accord
ing to William E. Warne, Group
Health president.
The one thing agreed upon last
night was that salary increases
for staff members, which have
been approved by the member
ship, will depend on the amount
of increased revenue.

—An anxious mother telephoned
police yesterday that “a major
riot” was in progress near the
Monlux School.
The police responded according
ly, with sirens screaming. But the
“riot” was short lived. A news
paper reporter and cameraman,
arriving a few minutes later, found
only a small boy, one tooth miss
ing, surveying the scene.
Said the boy: “They wuth a
fight between a 10-year-old boy
and a 12-year-old kid. The whole

kids on each side. Thirteen cops
came. Now they ith all gone.”
