Name ___ | Address__ _ Pigeon Really Wears Glasses, Broadway Secretary Insists - ly the Associated Press NEW YORK, July 21.—There are all kinds of pigeons in New York—fat ones, thin ones, old ones, beggars and clowns. But there’s never been a pigeon before like the one over on Broad way. He wears glasses. That’s right, glasses—the kind you wear to see better. He showed up July 11 on the window sill of Selby L. Turner’s seventh-floor Broadway office. Mr. Turner, an insurance man, was dictating a letter. He stopped dictating, of course. He didn’t say anything at first. There just didn’t m stride. After all, you do see some pretty strange things on Broadway. “He’s quite amusing,” she said in a masterful bit of understate ment. The pigeon’s glasses aren’t just ordinary, horn - rimmed ones, either. They’re pince-nez — the old-fashioned kind that are pinched onto the nose by a spring rather than anchored by the ears. “He doesn’t wear them exactly where he would if pigeons wore glasses,” Mrs. Cassano explained seriously. “He holds them in his beak. But in such a way that he can peer through them with his ,eyes.” Mrs. Cassano hasn't had much luck telling friends about the piegon. “They don’t believe it,” she ad mitted. “But I’ve seen him.” gas brtjonf neat AUTHORIZED GAS OEALER Boilers, Furnaces, Water Heaters E. "Thank God,” was Mr. Turner’s Irst reaction. “He paraded back and forth, reeked in, then flew away,” said ;he secretary, Mrs. Lillian Cassano.
