Model Corporation Is Just That i—From Standpoint of Beauty By Arthur Edson Atsoc iat*d Press Ctaff Writer The president of Washington’s newest corporation is a luscious looking brunette named Marja belle Young. The secretary is a luscious look ing brunette named Anne Hinson, and the treasurer is an L. L. B. named Julie Shadel. And every one of the stock holders of Shy, Inc., is pretty enough to be a model. Which, by the way, is what each of them is. All these tidbits were disclosed yesterday at what was easily the prettiest news conference ever held here. Miss Young explained to the re porters that in the past it has been every model for herself. Under the corporation, she said, the girls won’t have to go out and drum up jobs for themselves, for the chore will be done through Shy, Inc. The address: 1230 Sixteenth street N.W. The name, Shy, comes from the initials of the last names of the three officers—Shadel, Hinson and Young. Miss Young said the figures the corporation will develop new lines of business, like serving as host esses at the hundreds of conven tions held here. “We can even pin on roses,” she said, “and heaven knows more roses are pinned on here than any where in the world.” Purely in the interest of sci ence, of course, I circulated around to see what the models did in their spare time, and it turned out that most of them have husbands and half of them have children. Really? “Really.” said Nancy Hinkle Demas. “Now you take me. I’ve got a Marine.” And as if to prove her point, her Marine came up, and thinking of nothing to say at the moment, I drifted on. One unmarried model is 21-year old Joan Brooks, Miss Fire Pre vention of 1951. But. she said. “I’m pinned to a football coach, a big one.” At this point Miss Young called the meeting to order, and each of the 20 models sashayed up and signed the contract. One stockholder missed the event. - "Virginia Johnson can’t be here," Miss Young said. “She has the measles.” On this clinical note, the stock* holders’ meeting at Harvey’s Res taurant broke up. The Geological Survey an nounced today that the bluish gray metallic-looking mineral found in Nevada in 1943 has proved to be a new species. The mineral has been named robinsonite in honor of Dr. S. C. Robinson of Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. His work made possible identification of the mineral as something new. The discovery was made at the Red Bird Mine Pershing County, Nev., by Edgar H. Bailey of the Geological Survey, who was in vestigating quicksilver (mercury) deposits. The new find will be displayed in the National Museum. Discovery of a new mineral is of considerable moment, the Geo logical Survey says, because it is much more difficult than finding a new member of the plant or animal kindgdoms, which num ber their species in the thousands or millions.
